Slow Problems
The SuMON process introduces the children to non-routine problem solving similar to Mathematical Olympiads.
These problems are not repetitive in nature. The goal is not to feed the children with mechanical formulas. Instead, we make the problems and activities thought provoking in nature. Hence the kids learn how to 'think'.
Math Olympiads
Math Olympiads such as American Math Competitions, University of Waterloo Contests, MOEMS require kids to think out of the box.
The SuMON program is useful to get the kids started in this journey. The problem sets are designed to create necessary foundation for olympiads in long run.
Devil is in the detail
We encourage students to write detailed solutions and their thought processes. This means they are supposed to write more than 'just the final answer'. Some of the questions and activities are designed to attract elaborate response.
Our faculty team then grades these responses with detailed comments.
